Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Allied Health Care Scholarship NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME Students working toward careers as nurse practitioners, physician assistants or certified nurse midwives can apply for a scholarship from the Illinois Department of Public Health. Recipients must work in those fields in areas of Illinois, where the state has determined there is a shortage of primary health care providers. Download application.
The Bruce Fishkin Scholarship Fund offers college scholarships to eligible high school juniors and seniors in Redding, Fairfield and Westport, Connecticut and the cities and surrounding suburbs of Chicago, Illinois and Las Vegas, Nevada. Award amounts vary according to the need of the student and the cost of attendance. Eligible students from qualifying geographic areas include those having a 3.0 GPA or greater (on a four-point scale). Scholarship recipients will be selected based on their 400 to 500-word response to three essay questions.

Marianjoy Scholarship Program Students with permanent disabilities of the type treated at Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital, such as brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, musculoskeletal impairments or neuromuscular disorders, can apply for scholarships to fund post-high school education at colleges, community colleges or vocational schools. Children of Veterans Tuition Waiver Applications for the University of Illinois 2012-2013 Children of Veterans Tuition Waiver are now available on school's Office of Financial aid website,www.osfa.illinois.edu On the right side of the page, click the orange "Forms" button, then click 2012-2013. The application is listed under " Tuition Waivers." The University is offering six scholarships per county to Illinois students whose parents served in the Armed Forces in one of six conflicts. General Assembly Scholarship Illinois law provides for each member of the General Assembly to annually nominate person(s) of school age and otherwise eligible, from his/her district. Each shall receive a scholarship in any State supported university designated by the member. Students wishing to apply for this scholarship MUST contact their State Senator or State Representative for information on the application process. George Mangiaracina Memorial Scholarship Priority for this college scholarship is given to applicants who plan to study business administration with an emphasis on accounting. Applicants must be graduating seniors in the top half of their class, are Illinois residents and plan to attend college in the state. The application should be available in late January, and the deadline to apply is April 15.
Golden Apple Scholars High school teachers, counselors, advisers and principals can nominate a member of the class who plans to become a teacher as a Golden Apple Scholar. Seniors may also nominate themselves. Nominations can be done online at www.goldenapple.org. Golden Apple Scholars can receive up to $2,500 a year for four years to help fund their education. Illinois Future Teacher Corps Students on the junior or senior level who are pursuing an education degree at an Illinois school can apply for the Illinois Teacher Corps Scholarship. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 grade point average on a 4-point scale and be willing to teach full-time for five years in an Illinois school. Download application.
Grants for Dependents of Police, Fire and Correctional Officers Children and spouses of police, fire and correctional officers who have been killed or at least 90 percent disabled in the line of duty can apply for grants to help pay for tuition and fees at a public or private college in Illinois. Medical Student Scholarship NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME The Illinois Department of Public Health offers scholarships to a limited number of medical students who demonstrate financial need and agree to practice primary care medicine in state-designated physician-shortage areas. The scholarship pays tuition, mandatory fees and living expenses at a medical school in Illinois. Download application.
Minority Teacher of Illinois Scholarship Students of African-American, Hispanic-American, Asian-American or Native American descent who are interested in a teaching career can apply for up to $5,000 a year for educational expenses at an Illinois school. Applicants must make a commitment to teach for one year in a school with at least a 30 percent minority enrollment for each year of financial assistance. More information.
National Guard Grants People on active duty in the Illinois National Guard who have served at least one year can apply for grants to help pay tuition and fees for up to four academic years at an Illinois public community college or four-year college or university. More information.
Norwegian National League Scholarship The Norwegian National League awards a $1,000 college scholarship to a high school student of Norwegian descent who is graduating with a 3.0 average and enrolled for college study. In addition to filling out an application, the student must submit an original 500-word essay on a Norwegian topic. More information.
Nurse Educator Scholarship Scholarship funding is available for those studying to become teachers of nursing in Illinois schools. Applicants must be Illinois residents, U.S. citizens and maintain satisfactory academic progress.The scholarship requires recipients to begin working as a nurse educator in Illinois within one year and continue teaching for five years. Nursing Scholarship The Illinois Department of Public Health Center for Rural Health offers a scholarship for nursing students in all types of nursing programs - practical nursing, assiciate degree nursing, hospital diploma nursing, bachelors degree nursing and graduate degree nursing.The scholarship pays only for coursework related to the nursing curriculum and applicants must be Illinois residents. Scholarship receipients must sign a contract to work in Illinois after they are licensed. For more inforamtion, go to the website at idph.state.il.us. Applications must be submitted online. Podiatric Scholarship NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME The Illinois Department of Public Health offers a scholarship to an Illinois podiatry student who is enrolled in an accredited school in the state and is willing to practice in areas of Illinois where there is a shortage of podiatric physicians. Sara Elizabeth Stubblefield Memorial Scholarship - This Scholarship is for high school seniors in Illinois who are living with epilepsy. A $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who is planning to continue his or her education at a college or vocational/technical school. Scholarship recipients who remain in good academic standing can reapply. the Foundation was formed by the family of Sara Elizabeth Stubblefield, who developed epilepsy as a high school junior, but nevertheless became class valedictorian, graduated from college, earned a masters degree and became a licensed clinical social worker. She served as services coordinator for the Epilepsy Foundation of Southern Illinois for 10 years. The deadline for submitting an application is April 30, 2012. Special Education Teacher Tuition Waiver Students planning to study special education can apply for a scholarship that pays tuition and fees at a four-year public college in Illinois. Recipients must promise to teach special education full-time for at least two of the five years immediately following certification. More information.
U.S. Senate Youth Program The U.S. Senate Youth Program offers a week-long educational trip to Washington DC and a $5,000 scholarship to two students from each state. The program is open to high school juniors and seniors who plan to take government courses in college and who are serving in an elected or selected office in student government or a related organization. Veterans Grants Veterans who have served at least one full your of full-time active duty in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard or have received a service-related medical discharge, served in foreign country during a time of hostilities or were discharged before Aug. 11, 1967 can apply for grants to pay for undergraduate or graduate study at an Illinois public community college, four-year college or university. Veterans in Illinois may be able to combine the state’s Veterans Grant with other programs, such as the Montgomery GI Bill, the Post-9/11 GI Bill, Illinois’ need-based Monetary Award Program or federal Pell Grants. Zonta Club Of Joliet Young Women In Public Affairs Award Young women who volunteer and take leadership roles in their communities can apply for the Young Women in Public Affairs Award sponsored by Zonta International and the Zonta Club of Joliet. Local District recipients will receive awards of $1,000 each. Five of the District recipients will be selected by Zonta International to receive an additional award of $3,000 each. Eligible applicants are 16 to 19 years old and live or study in the District from which they apply. They must demonstrate evidence of an active commitment to volunteerism, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements, evidence of international awareness and evidence of dedication to advancing the status of women worldwide. Illinois Retired Teachers Association Scholarship The Illinois Retired Teachers Association Foundation will award a $1,500 scholarship ($750 per semester) to one student pursuing a teaching degree in each Foundation area. to be eligible, a student must be entering junior or senior year of college and be accepted into an accredited teacher certification program. Applicants must have and maintain a 3.0 grade point average on 4.0 scale. Sudents applying for the scholarship must fill out the application form and submit a copy of their college transcripts, a one-page letter stating educational intent and special family circumstances, three letter of recommendation and signed consent form allowing the IRTA Foundation to verify the accuracy of their information.
